This statue of St. Benedict is made of resin and has St. Benedict depicted with his traditional symbols. the a cross and his rule. This statue shows him holding a crosier, the symbol of being an abbot, standing next to a crow, an animal that factors into the legends of the saint. The story goes that when St. Benedict was alive, a malicious priest attempted to poison his meal, and the raven carried off the poisoned bread.
St. Benedict is called the Father of Western monasticism and is patron saint of religious orders. His intercession is invoked for protection against the temptations from the Devil, witchcraft and any other evils.
