Call Him Father is a delightfully practical guide to attaining joyful intimacy with God, and to knowing Him truly as your Father. Fr. Edward Maristany leads you through a simple approach to getting to know God through prayer and service. In this book on the the fatherhood of God, he describes the crucial role of parents in introducing children to the love of our heavenly Father, and explains the role of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and Mary in fostering this love. He shows you how even your times of difficulty can lead you to deeper love for and trust in God your Father.
"All of us live in the shadow of a Puritan God" (Francis Cardinal George) The Puritan God is distant and cold, rewarding the good and punishing evil. Fear of this God and his punishment easily become the driving force of the fulfillment of one's duties. On the contrary, Scripture teaches that "he who fears is not perfected in love." (1 John: 4:18) This little book is a practical guide toward experiencing the reality of divine filiation of joyful intimacy with the God and Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Fr. Edward Maristany was born in Barcelona (Spain) in 1955. After studying in Rome, he was ordained a priest of the Prelature of Opus Dei in 1980. In 1982 he completed his doctorate in Theology from the University of Navarre and came to the United States. He has carried out his pastoral in New York, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Berkeley, where he now resides. He is the author of Loving the Holy Mass, also published by Scepter.
